KNYSNA YACHT COMPANY, builders of the popular KNYSNA440 catamaran is proud to announce the latest 2010 addition to the popular line of South-African Catamarans.

The Knysna440 catamaran combines quality and style with engineering to the very high standards of Naval Architect Angelo Lavranos, ensuring reliability, space and safe boat handling.

Designed for both the Charter market as well as for long distance blue water sailing, the new Knysna440 catamaran features the same attention to detail as her bigger sister ship, the new Knysna480 catamaran.

The 360-degree view from the saloon allows unobstructed sight forward and aft.

The galley compliments the large cockpit area; ideal for charters and private owners. Efficient use of space offers spacious cabins and heads.

Wide open deck space ensures safe boat handling and movement. The interior styling is “clean and modern”. Each boat is semi-customisable and built to order in our own boat yard in Knysna, South-Africa. There are two layout options to suit most requirements; owners version / charter version.

Our boats have a high ‘sail away’ standard specification which means that you can go cruising without adding very much except to personalise your yacht.

Nestled in the popular South-African village called Knysna only 5 hours from Cape Town one will find boat builder Kevin Fouché from The Knysna Yacht Company, where him and his team combines quality and style with engineering of very high standards that ensures reliability, space and safe boat handling. Each boat has been expertly constructed.

Giant sliding saloon doors invite the crew to enter the best part of a catamaran, the cockpit which feels like an extension of the saloon. One can entertain family, socialize with friends, cook, navigate or simply lounge around. And when necessary, side canvas roll-up blinds have been designed for the cockpit area to protect skipper and crew from the elements.

To “compliment” the cockpit, Knysna Yacht Company has innovatively integrated a strong coachroof the entire width of the cockpit, giving the 480 catamaran a timeless and modern look and to protect friends and family onboard from the weather. Sailing from the coachhouse gives the helmsman opportunity to socialize with guests in the cockpit while views of the sails from the steering position are possible. This is also important for safe docking.

The galley, a chef’s playground, is carefully planned into a gourmet’s delight by the new boat owner while the yacht is in the building process. The views from the saloon allow unobstructed sight forward and aft. Four modern double on-suite cabins ensure comfort and privacy.

Twin engines (40 hp Volvo or Yanmar) ensure better manoeuvrability in harbour. Wide open deck space and aft-walkways ensure safe boat handling and movement.

From the beginning the passion-filled mission of the Knysna Yacht Company was to create an International reputation for building outstanding yachts as well as offering exceptional levels of customer service and satisfaction. Knysna Yacht Company has a long list of achievements, not least of which is a string of satisfied catamaran owners – investors in the Knysna 440 and Knysna 480 models. Now, based on the success of the Knysna 480 – an excellent sailing vessel in its own right – the new Knysna 500 is destined to become an icon in the company’s continuing success story and will follow in the wake of her sistership’s history and popularity.

The new Knysna 500 is a sporty, sleek yacht with an arresting profile, all presented in a total package of brilliance of finishes, comfort, luxury and performance.

Modifications effected in our new Knysna 500 include:

The Cockpit

A cockpit that’s designed for the dedicated yachtsman and the captain who’d like to socialise while island-hopping. It offers an opportunity for guest, helmsman and the chef to socialise in an area that’s safe from the elements, well-ventilated and fully protected.  Placing the helmsman in exactly the right position so that he can be involved with his passengers from his commanding post while views of the sails and winches from the steering position are unobstructed.
