After a successful shop fitting and building projects career, Kevin and his family decided at the end of 1998 to ‘start” their sailing dream. The couple moved down to Knysna, a beautiful little village known as the “French Riviera of South-Africa”.  Kevin spent a year building and fitting out their yacht which they sailed in the best “testing” area in the world, the Knysna Heads entrance and the Indian Ocean, known for its challenging sailing conditions.  This is the perfect place for sea trails!

Kevin and his family left beautiful Cape Town in January 2000 and spent a fun filled year sailing between the lovely Caribbean Islands. On their return the Fouche’s started a charter company that operated from the Knysna Waterfront until Nov 2002 when Knysna Yacht Company was established.

The KYC-team’s vision is to build the company into one of the world’s leading catamaran manufacturers, equal to the industries benchmark in France. We build fast cruising catamarans that can sail anywhere in the world: a yacht you could handle effortlessly on your own and offers genuine comfort and reliability, a boat that will bring joy and safety to skipper and his family; the ultimate world cruiser. “From our personal sailing experiences, my production team and I know that it is attention to the smallest detail as well as to the overall design that makes owning a Knysna catamaran such a joy. We use new technology and techniques to build our catamarans, aiming towards a sporty look with emphasis on functionality and efficiency”.

The building process begins with a visit to the factory by the client who will then make the decision to purchase either the Knysna 440 or 480 Catamaran. We have on-going discussions relating to the style, performance and budget expectations which soon provides clear understanding and vision and converts the dream to reality.
