So here's the plan, 6 of you establish a fractional ownership company that will buy a Knysna 480 for you to do with what you will as Owner and Skipper for 8 weeks a year. You will have 4 queen size cabins available for you and your family and friends. All costs of owning a yacht and looking after it will be shared by the owners... After 5 years the yacht will be sold and the funds distributed between the owners…

Knysna 480 – 12 Fractional Owner Crewed Scheme

In this plan, 12 of you will establish a fractional ownership company that will buy a Knysna 480. A dedicated skipper and his wife will operate and maintain your yacht for the 5 years. What is envisaged is that each owner will have 2 weeks a year on board with 3 queen size cabins available for you and your family and friends and where the sailing and catering will be done by the Skipper and Hostess. In-between owner visits the yacht will be chartered by the Skipper to cover overhead costs. The dedicated Skipper in situ should be able to avoid the "middle men" and thus make a profit from the chartering business... the net proceeds will then be distributed to the owners in the form of annual dividends

After 5 years the yacht will be sold and the funds distributed between the owners after the skipper gets a 13th share as a performance bonus. A well maintained yacht will enhance it's resale value.

Knysna 480 – 30 Time-Share Owners Cabin Scheme

This is a time-share plan where 30 share holders will establish a fractional ownership company that will buy a Knysna 480 and put it into a proven managed charter business for 5 years to cover the overhead costs. Here you get a cabin for 2 weeks a year and share the yacht with other owners or charter clients and live it up in luxury. After 5 years the yacht will be sold and the funds distributed between the owners…

In all cases the Fractional Ownership Company will buy the yacht at 1/6th, 1/12th or 1/30th the purchase price and the running costs and direct costs of diesel, food and beverages will be at the owners’ expense during their cruise.
